Lima
Lima, which in 1988 was considered in a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is the capital of Peru and it is situated on the central coast of Peru on the Pacific Ocean. There are nearly 8 million inhabitants of diverse racial and ethnic groups. Having been the center of the Viceroyalty in Peru, Lima preserved much of its history. It is the city with the largest number of museums throughout Peru. Among them are the National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History of Peru; the National Museum of Peruvian Culture and the Rafael Larco Herrera Archeological Museum. In addition, there are historic churches such as the Cathedral of Lima, the Basilica of San Francisco, and the Monastery of Nazarene among others.
