Humanities have a privileged place in studies at University of Piura since its establishment, believing that the humanistic knowledge trains the intelligence, disciplines one´s will, inspires love for goodness and beauty, educates the sensibility, supports the respect for others and oneself, and makes self-unity easier. It provides a sound basic education, broad humanistic and scientific content, and thus, as stated in the mission, harmonizes “the specialized dispersion of knowledge with the element of human truth, enlightened by Christian faith.”

SPANISH PROGRAM FOR NORTH AMERICAN STUDENTS 

After signing an agreement in August of 2004, with the University of North Carolina- Pembroke-, the first group of North American Students arrived from this university. 

PROEEN also admits students interested in learning the language. The University of Piura has enrolled students from The University of Hawaii-Hilo, Korean students doing voluntary work in Piura with the NGO Koica (Korean International Cooperation), working Brazilian students, Chinese students from Confucius Institute from University of Piura, and finally a group of Japanese students who reside in the city.
