Recientemente, la Universidad de Piura (UDEP) ha establecido un convenio con la Catholic University of America (CUA). Este acuerdo permite a los estudiantes de UDEP, que hayan completado satisfactoriamente todos los cursos requeridos hasta el quinto ciclo en el Programa Académico de Economía, trasladarse a CUA para finalizar sus estudios.
En la Catholic University of America, los alumnos tienen la opción de obtener los títulos de Bachelor of Sciences in Economics o Bachelor of Sciences in International Economics and Finance.
Los alumnos transferidos de UDEP pueden iniciar clases en CUA en 2 momentos del año. Para el período 2023-2024, la programación del inicio de clases fue:
Lo recomendable es comenzar el proceso con seis meses antes del inicio de clases en CUA.
Aprobar los cursos de los ciclos I al V, y tener un índice acumulado de al menos 12.5.
El convenio permite que los estudiantes UDEP con buen rendimiento académico tengan una beca del 50% de estudios en CUA. Es un convenio que permite que tus estudios de Economía en UDEP se convaliden como años de estudios en CUA. Para ser transferido debes llevar los cursos correspondientes al 1°, 2°, 3°, 4° y 5° ciclo de la malla curricular 2020 del Programa de Economía en UDEP.
Sí. Pero debes de cumplir de igual forma todos los requisitos solicitados. Debes notar que al convertirte en ex alumno UDEP, ya no serás becario de Pronabec. Además, debes de consultar con Pronabec cuál es la implicancia de hacer un traslado a una universidad extranjera.
No. Este convenio es exclusivo para alumnos regulares de UDEP.
Una vez seas admitido en CUA, dicha universidad te orientará para que gestiones tu visa de estudios ante la Embajada de USA.
Economía en CUA está clasificada como carrera STEM, por lo que podrías quedarte haciendo tu Optional Program Training (OPT) en cualquier parte de USA hasta tres años después de haber culminado tus estudios.
No es necesario tener bachillerato internacional para acceder al convenio.
Con tu documento de matrícula del quinto ciclo y el certificado oficial de notas hasta el cuarto ciclo, puedes iniciar el proceso de aplicación a CUA. Al terminar satisfactoriamente el quinto ciclo, se debe regularizar el certificado de notas hasta el quinto ciclo de estudios.
Después del quinto ciclo en UDEP y gracias al convenio con CUA, te restarán 3 o 4 semestres para para obtener tu diploma en CUA.

Mientras seas alumno de UDEP, hayas cursado satisfactoriamente los cursos del 1°, 2°, 3°, 4° y 5° ciclo de la malla curricular del Programa de Economía y cumplido los requisitos señalados, puedes postular.
Se espera que los estudiantes que sean transferidos, terminen satisfactoriamente su grado académico en CUA. Luego de hacer tu traslado a CUA tendrás la condición de ex alumno de la UDEP. Si por situaciones de emergencia debes dejar CUA y regresar al Perú a culminar tus estudios, podrás solicitar tu reincorporación al Programa de Economía de UDEP.

Sí. El convenio permite que puedas seguir el Master in Applied Economics en CUA que dura 1 año. Con buen desempeño académico puedes incluso solicitar que te sean reconocidos hasta un 40% de los cursos del Master, de tal forma que lo termines en menos de un año adicional a la obtención de tu Bachelor of Sciences. Los costos deberán ser informados por CUA.
