PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The COIL demonized Whitaker Case: the first drug baby. Implication in medicine, ethics and law; A project in which students from the UDEP Law and UDEM Medical Surgeon and Midwife academic programs participated, had the purpose of obtaining dialogue skills in the face of the controversy behind genetic studies and manipulation of embryos. Through the study of the case of Jaime Whitaker, known as the first “medication baby”, we sought to analyze the usefulness, pros and cons of genetic studies; as well as existing techniques to correct genes associated with diseases.
