In-Person Exchange
The regular exchange is aimed at undergraduate students of all majors, it allows the student to take one or two semesters (non-consecutive) abroad, at one of our partner universities and then validate the courses upon returning to the country. Tuition and monthly payment are paid at UDEP. If you are a scholarship recipient, the conditions of your scholarship are maintained.
You must cover the costs of visa processing, transfer, insurance and stay.

Who can apply?
You can apply if you meet:
- Be a regular student of the University of Piura at the time of application and during the exchange.
- Be enrolled in the fifth cycle and have credits to validate at the time of application.
- Have a cumulative index greater than 12.
- Meet the required level of the language of instruction at the chosen university.
- Not having a current disciplinary sanction registered.
- Not have debts for academic or other pensions.
How is the proccess?
At UDEP:

- Apply here. Choose two universities from the available list. Previously review the mesh of each university and the academic course offering for the semester of your interest. Apply here
- Communication of results, you will be assigned one of the two options.
At the partner university:
- Nomination
- Registration and application for courses at the assigned university.
- Arrival of the acceptance letter, 3 to 4 weeks after your registration. For more details see application guide

An email will arrive with the name of the university that has been assigned to you.

- Certificate of English language proficiency: if it is a non-Spanish speaking university, it is recommended to have a certificate of international validity.

Before your departure
Do you have everything ready for the exchange?
If you have already received the acceptance letter from the destination university, it's time to manage:
The visa, for which you must review the “student visa” section on the website of the embassy of the destination country, there you will find the instructions and the list of documents that you must present.
The purchase of travel insurance is mandatory, it must have international coverage and be valid for the entire period of your stay, buy it at a travel or insurance agency in Peru; In some cases the host university can recommend one to you. It must be valid both in the country where you will study and in any other country you have planned to visit.
Accommodation: with In the acceptance letter you will receive a list of places recommended by the university of destiny, you can too directly contact the services of other accommodations that friends and family have recommended to you.

How do I validate the courses taken during the exchange?
Once the exchange is finished, you must present the exchange report about your experience, and request validation. For more information, consult here.
Frequent questions
Frequently asked questions about student exchange
At the end of the exchange you must send the person in charge of the Outgoing international mobility office in Udep,
- The report of your exchange experience
- The validation application
- The study certificate issued by the foreign university.
- Attach the proposed study plan with the approval of the director of studies.
It is important to verify that the validated courses appear in the SIGA before starting the next semester.
If for any reason the academic load changes, it must be approved by the program director at UDEP. If you have already paid installment 1 or 2, you must notify the Pensions Office to perform a recalculation based on the next installment.
Carrying out the exchange involves the following expenses:
- Payment of tuition and monthly fees at UDEP during the semester of study abroad.
- Airfare (round trip).
- Health insurance (must be valid for the entire period of stay abroad).
- Student visa (mandatory document required to enter a foreign country). It is requested at the respective embassy and has a cost that differs depending on the country.
- Accommodation, food, transportation and extras (usually between 700 to 1000 dollars per month, depending on the country and city).

At the Polytechnic, although the teaching methodologies are different from ours, all the professors have a very good level and explain things quite clearly, which I was very excited about. The courses I chose were master's courses, since these are the ones taught in English, and I noticed that there was a good balance between class hours, exercises and laboratories; In general, the classes went well and the engineers were always at our disposal to resolve any questions that might arise.
I stayed in San Donato, which is a city a little far from the center of Milan, but it is well connected thanks to the metro, which made it easier for me to go to the activities carried out by the ESN and to be a constant in the volleyball games organized by the polytechnic. Finally, what I liked most about Milan is that there were churches everywhere and it was easy to go to one, even if I had a full day of classes.

At the University of Wisconsin-Platteville you receive a good amount of responsibilities, where punctuality is essential or else you lose points. The teachers I had were very good and experts in what they taught. In the end, I received an A (highest grade) in all 4 courses I applied for.
In general, I liked the education. It has an interesting level of demand, which becomes an affordable challenge.
The facilities throughout the campus were generally of very high quality. There were plenty of spaces for different things. There are also various activities and clubs to keep you entertained. They have facilities to do all sports; Personally, I used the gym and pool quite a bit.

My academic experience was really satisfactory since as an architecture student I was very interested in knowing architectural places that I had as a reference in the theoretical part, and during the exchange that I did at the Paulista University I was able to achieve it thanks to the technical visits that were organized by the university. On the other hand, I managed to overcome the challenge I had since choosing the University, which was to learn the Portuguese language, since my classes were given in that language.
I really liked UNIP because they had a flexible schedule for students and this was partly because most students worked in their free time; That is why I managed to interact with some colleagues who already had work experience and it helped me a lot to share knowledge with them.

A positive and innovative experience. The methodology was the most notable change. The teachers there teach the class in general guidelines and generally one has to go to the book and/or consultations with the teacher to go deeper into the topic or solve exercises.
The offer of workshops and clubs is wide, they hold fairs to present their projects and recruit interested parties, likewise, they are all advertised through social networks.
Students on their own initiative create clubs in various areas (research, marketing, investments, dance, etc.). They present a project with their activity plan for the year and this allows them to compete for financing granted by the same university so that the club can carry it out. The main criterion is that it generates a greater positive impact on students and society. It seems to me to be a good option that can be replicated.

During my exchange the classes were a different experience since they were with people from a different culture, and the methodologies were also different. The Miguel Hernández University of Elche has very good facilities, it is very spacious and beautiful. The teachers are quite considerate of the students who come on exchange. I really liked that some of the courses I took used technological tools in the class. I had to change a subject when I was there and the university made the change very quickly, gave me recommendations, and was always available to me for any requests. I learned to be a more responsible and independent person, being more aware of all the decisions I made.

In the semester in Vancouver, I had an integrally enriching experience, I learned more about the importance of community and the preservation of the environment and diversity. The methodology was quite good: classes, periodic assignments and two weeks of exams. It gave enough time to organize, study or do homework ahead of time, and also get involved in a thousand and one activities.
There were several clubs, such as one for exchange students and one for self-defense. There were many recreational activities, sports (such as hiking), integration of exchange students and the courses were very interesting. Connecting with people from different backgrounds helped me value mine as well.

I did my exchange at the Universidad de los Andes in Santiago de Chile, where I took three courses and had the experience of doing pre-professional internships which allowed me to compare first-hand the educational reality of the country with ours. I have been able to enjoy a very implemented and pleasant library to study which I have sought to make the most of. Studying at the university led me to meet teachers who were very willing to help me both in class and outside, today I can even call them friends. I consider Santiago to be a very orderly and pleasant city to live in, my experience there has been positive all around, I have met incredible people, mainly the other exchange colleagues, who have become great friends and we went there like brothers. The surroundings and the other cities of Chile are very beautiful and wonderful to visit, a variety of landscapes in a very short time with a lot of contrast. The teaching at CEU was more practical than theory, I felt that I learned a lot by doing, putting into practice what I read in the offprints. Valencia is a pretty friendly place, I managed to get situated super quickly and made good friendships that will last a lifetime. The exchange made me leave my comfort zone, it made me a better person, more responsible and understanding of what happens abroad.
