Founded in 1863, it is considered one of the most prominent European universities of Engineering, Architecture and Industrial Design and, in many disciplines, is considered a leading global research institution. It has 12 departments and a network of 6 Faculties, spread across 7 locations in the Lombardy region with central administration and management. The 6 faculties are dedicated to education, while the 12 departments are dedicated to research. The educational policy of the Polytechnic of Milan consists of offering different study plans adapted to the needs of its territory, one of the most developed industrial areas in Europe.
