The University of Concepción is a Higher Education institution, organized as a Private Law Corporation. The idea of founding the University of Concepción was an old aspiration of the Penquistas. 500 kilometers from Santiago, capital of Chile, is the Central Campus of the University of Concepción, which began its academic activities in 1919. The Concepción Campus is an icon in the city and is the confluence center of the Bío Bío Region and the rest of the country.
