The Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia (UPTC) is an official National University, created on October 10, 1953. Currently, it is distributed in 5 locations: Tunja (its main headquarters), Duitama, Sogamoso, Chiquinquirá and Yopal. In addition, it has 6 extension program locations, 77 in-person undergraduate academic programs, 24 distance undergraduate and 68 postgraduate academic programs.
The UPTC was created with the objective of emphasizing education, science and technology and is ranked number 11 among the best universities in Colombia (2021), according to the ranking carried out by Sapiens Research Group. Likewise, it is the fourteenth university in the country with the largest number of students, more than approximately 30,000.
