Dr. Paul Corcuera Garcia

President

Paul Corcuera holds a PhD in Economics and Business Administration from the Institute of Advanced Business Studies – University of Navarra (Spain); a degree in Business Administration from UDEP; a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family from the Institute of Family Sciences of the University of Navarra and a Master’s degree in Business Management from the Institute of Advanced Business Studies – Austral University (Argentina).

He graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration in 1984 and has been a professor there since 1985. In addition to teaching at the university, Dr. Corcuera has performed various service tasks at this institution, including the following: he was general administrator in 1995 and general secretary from 1990 to 2002.

  • Ing. Héctor Manuel Viera Petit-Jean

    President

    He is a civil engineer from the Institute of Technology and Higher Studies of Monterrey (Mexico); and graduated from the PAD-School of Management of the University of Piura.

    He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Association for the Development of University Education (ADEU), promoter of the University of Piura (UDEP), from 1972 to 1994. Likewise, professor at the School of Intermediate Management, CAME; Executive Vice President of the Piura 450 Civil Association; and member of the Economic Council of the UDEP.

  • Dr. Antonio Mabres Torelló

    Vice president

    He has a doctorate in Physical Sciences from the University of Zaragoza, Spain.

    Since his arrival in Piura, in 1974, he has been a senior professor at the university's Faculty of Engineering, where he has held various academic positions. He has also been pro-rector and vice-rector; and rector of the UDEP from 1989 to 2003.

    He is a member of various scientific institutions, such as the National Academy of Sciences of Peru and the Board of Directors of the Geophysical Institute of Peru.

  • Dr. María Luisa Murillo Colque

    Secretary

    Lawyer graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), PhD in Law from the University of Navarra, Spain, Master in Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Law (LL.M) from the University of Houston, Texas and Master in Organizational Governance (MGO) from the PAD-School of Management.

    Fulbright Scholar – Fulbright Commission Scholar (Peru headquarters). Independent – Non Executive Director with PAD/IESE Business School certification from the Board Training Program. She is an international consultant, with extensive experience in corporate legal advice to national and international companies in matters of Energy and Sustainability and Corporate Governance. She is a university professor in undergraduate and graduate degrees.

  • Mgtr. María Irene Velaochaga Rey

    Vocal

    Bachelor in Liberal Arts from the University of Piura. He completed master's studies in Liberal Arts at the University of Navarra. She has been director of the Museum of the Nation, the Museum of Italian Art and the Directorate of Museums and Historical Heritage Management. He has more than 30 years of experience teaching Art History.

    She has been recognized with the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, in the rank of Knight (2002); and with the “Meritorious Personality of Culture” medal, from the Ministry of Culture of Peru (2018).

  • Mons. Fernando Ocáriz

    Grand Chancellor

    Mons. Fernando Ocáriz was born in Paris, on October 27, 1944, son of a Spanish family.

    He graduated in Physical Sciences from the University of Barcelona in 1966 and in Theology from the Pontifical Lateran University in 1969. He obtained a doctorate in Theology, in 1971, at the university of Navarra. That same year he was ordained a priest. In his first years as a priest he dedicated himself especially to youth and university ministry.

    Among his various publications are “The mystery of Jesus Christ: a Christology and Soteriology textbook”; “Children of God in Christ. Introduction to a theology of supernatural participation.

  • Father Ángel Gómez-Hortiguela

    Vice Grand Chancellor

    Father Ángel Gómez-Hortigüela Amillo was born in Tetuán in 1955. He holds a doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Navarra. He was ordained a priest in 2000. For more than 30 years he was part of the Council of the Delegation of the Prelature of Opus Dei in Valencia and, from 2015 to 2018, he served as Rector of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Madrid.

    He has written four works on the life and thought of the philosopher Luis Vives; one of them was translated into Japanese and published in Japan in 1991: Luis Vives, Valenciano, or the philosopher's commitment.
